Privacy Policy

Himalayan Gambit is a free online board game. This page explains what we store, why we store it, and who processes it on our behalf. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking.
What we collect
- Account details. If you create an account we store your email address, your chosen username, and an identifier from your sign-in method.
- Gameplay records. Matches you take part in, their results, your per-game rating, leaderboard standing, and tutorial progress.
- Product analytics. Events such as starting a game, finishing a game, and joining matchmaking, so we can see which modes people actually play.
- Error diagnostics. When something breaks we record the error together with a replay of the interactions that led to it, so the bug can be reproduced.
- Feedback you send. The message text, plus the page you were on, the game and mode, and your browser and operating system.
Playing as a guest
You can play without an account. In that case we generate a random guest identifier and keep it in your browser only. Guests have no profile in our database, and guest results are not saved: no rating, no leaderboard entry, and no match history. Clearing your browser storage discards the guest identity entirely.
Storage in your browser
We use a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in. We also use local browser storage for your guest identifier, your fullscreen choice, the game you currently have in progress, and your sound and music preferences. These are functional, not advertising, and are never shared with third parties.
Who processes data for us
We rely on these providers to run the service. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase - database and sign-in
- Vercel - website hosting
- Railway - the real-time game server
- Upstash - matchmaking queues and short-lived game state
- Sentry - error monitoring
- Resend - delivering feedback messages to us
Your choices
You can play as a guest and share nothing but gameplay events. If you have an account, you can ask us for a copy of your data or ask us to delete it, which removes your profile, ratings, and leaderboard entries. Use the Feedback button in the app to reach us.
Children and changes
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
